TU Wien, Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering

HomeUniversitiesTU Wien, Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering

TU Wien was founded in 1815 and has been conducting research, teaching and learning under the motto ‘technology for people’. The university has evolved into an open academic institution where discussions can happen, opinions can be voiced and arguments will be heard.

Teaching Principles

A high-quality education is a primary concern to us. Therefore, we aim at integrating research results in the sense of research-led teaching as essential components in our courses in addition to the current state of the art. By implementing modern e-learning methods, the potential of “Blended Learning” is exploited within a sensible mix of classroom and online teaching.

Theoretical and Applied Research

Our identity as a research university means that we build our reputation through our research. The content of the teaching we offer is based on this research. TU Wien combines basic and applied research and research-oriented teaching at the highest level. Through their knowledge and their strong relationships, our graduates and scientists contribute to the transfer of knowledge and technologies across society and the economy.

CASProD

Currently, a transition from mechatronic products to smart, interconnected products takes place. This requires the adaption of the development processes to this new reality. Instead of specific skills, developing a product demands the combined knowledge of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science. To meet this requirement, TU Wien, in cooperation with the University of Ljubljana and the University of Zagreb, is developing a new master program that will train future product developers in all three domains.

The project is led by:

  • Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. Detlef Gerhard (https://tiss.tuwien.ac.at/person/55084.html)
